Headgear

CPAP headgear plays a very important role in effective sleep therapy.  The headgear needs to hold the mask interface securely against your face so that it can maintain an effective seal during the whole time you are sleeping.  The headgear also needs to be comfortable to be effective.  CPAP mask models work best with headgear designed especially for that model, so always look for the appropriate headgear for your mask.   Find the headgear that will work best for you at PatientSleepSupplies.com

For sleep therapy to be effective for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), positive airway pressure must be maintained for the duration of the patient’s sleep.  To keep this positive air pressure, the mask interface must remain secure the whole time you are asleep.

Most mask models work best with headgear specifically designed for that mask.  Headgear designed for the mask will have the proper number of straps and clips to hold the mask in place.  Some masks work with specifically designed four-point headgear, five-point headgear, or ‘halo’ style headgear.  Using the wrong headgear may result in the mask not fitting well, and resulting in leaking seals that will compromise your treatment.

If your headgear becomes lost or damaged, replace it immediately so that you can get the full benefits of your sleep therapy.  PatientSleepSupplies.com carries most brands and models of CPAP headgear.
