The Oracle™ 452 Oral Mask by Fisher & Paykel is a CPAP mask interface that delivers positive airway pressure through the mouth rather than the nose. This is an ideal mask solution for users who are mouth breathers or those suffering from chronic nasal blockages and are unable to obtain the full benefits of their continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy through a nasal mask.
The mask readily forms a reliable seal around the mouth. The mouth interface consists of two parts: a Softseal mouthpiece that fits inside the lips and a Snapflap cover that fits over the lips.
The patient’s lips fit snuggly between the two pieces and a seal is easily formed. Making mouthpiece adjustments is easy using the convenient rotating adjustment dial, which modifies the distance between the mouthpiece and the SnapFlap cover.
The convenient single-strap headgear has minimal contact with the patient. The entire upper face is unobstructed, giving the patient a complete field of vision. Patients can wear eyeglasses while wearing the mask and engage in pre-sleep activities, such as watching television or reading.
Exhaled air is quietly diffused away from bed partners. The ultimate goal of sleep therapy is to get better sleep; quiet operation allows both the user and the bed partner to relax and sleep better. Users can feel confident that their therapy will not disturb their bed partners.
The mask and headgear can be easily put on and removed with the easy-release strap.
This mask interface comes assembled and ready to use right out of the box so no complicated assembly is required to begin your therapy and get a restful night’s sleep.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) deprives countless patients from getting adequate restful sleep. The airways of OSA patients become obstructed during sleep. This is due to the fact that the airway muscles of OSA patients become too relaxed as they sleep and collapse and close off the airway. This disrupts the patient’s breathing during sleep, which in turn disrupts the patient’s sleep. Application of CPAP keeps the airways open and allows patients to breathe normally and sleep better.
CPAP is applied to the patient’s airway via a mask interface that forms a tight seal through the nose or mouth. Chronic nasal blockages or mouth breathing may make nasal masks insufficient for some patients. Therefore the Oracle 452 Oral mask, which delivers CPAP through the mouth, is a great alternative mask for these patients.
If you experience difficulties obtaining all of the benefits of your CPAP therapy because of mouth breathing or nasal blockage, this mask is a great alternative to nasal masks.
